I almost bumped right into Mr B the moment I took a left turn from one lane into another in Singapore’s largest Vivo Mall.
Instantly, I fell in love with this nattily dressed gent with his spotless white coat and well knotted bowtie placed unchoking around his slim neck. His glistening white teeth, a factor of envy for most of us today, and that broad wrinkle-free smile, wrinkle-free being another greater factor of envy, warmed the heart as his large hollow bespectacled eyes gave me the feeling I was staring into an abyss that possibly stretched centuries into the past.
And of course, that slim fat-free bony framed body that every obese human would die to fit into, gave me a wondrous feeling of how deadly fit one can be if one didn’t take life’s vices, including what one shoved incessantly into one’s mouth, seriously.
But I couldn’t help noticing that there was something foundationally intombed about Mr B’s appearance as he broadly smiled at me without ever batting an eyelid. Somewhere, between our first “Hello!!!” and the constant gazing into each other’s mutts, albeit one far more skeletal than the other, it began to occur to me that there was something strange in what I was enigmatically being drawn to. Perhaps a rising of the dead?!
And then it happened! A soft ethereal voice eerily began to speak into my ears.
“I know what’s been running through your mind lately! So let me give you a spot of advice from the annals of my extinct existence.
YOU CAN NEVER DO AWAY WITH THE PAST BY JUST WALKING AWAY FROM IT. Review each incident. There is much astuteness in every experience. Gain from it. Be grateful it happened. And THEN walk away from it.
TO MAKE THE PRESENT MEANINGFUL, YOU CAN’T EXIST JUST LIVING HAPPILY IN THE MOMENT. Blithering idiots do that. Take all that knowledge you gained from the past and create a stable steady powerful foundation in the present to stand on firmly.
TO MAKE THE FUTURE ICONIC, strengthen your foundation constantly with a highly analytical and razor-sharp focused mind to be able to be ready and rock steady when an opportunity suddenly materializes. They seldom do. But when they do, they could be absolutely kick-ass for success if only you are ready to fly!”
Here stood in front of me a gent who had all the time in eternity to reflect on the past, present and future without ever getting bothered by it now, since most of him had done its job fertilizing daisies growing 6 feet above the ground for quite a while.
But the advice sure was SLEDGEHAMMERING SOLID!
Ciao for now! See you soon…
